"Religion starts wars."

Religion doesn't start wars; people do. A sinful heart will use (and pervert) any means necessary to live out its superiority complex.

Saying 'religion starts wars' is like saying 'neighborhoods cause gang violence.' The problem is people.

i think this is very reasoned, logical thinking

I think you can't paint all religions with the same broad stroke, some religions are in their nature more dangerous where they directly encourage their faithful to war or violence moreso than others. Some religions in their completely proper observance order its faithful to kill or to subject non-believers to second class status. Others do not. Obviously any religion can be perverted to be used as a rationale for violence or abuse, but it is important to recognize that there is a very obvious reason you do not see suicide bombers in yamakas - there is not even a semblence of such a call in the jewish religion. Islam in its proper observance does call for subjection or killing of infidels, though it goes without saying that there are a great many of genuine Muslims that would never resort to violence in the name of their religion.

I completely do agree with you, however, that people - not the religion - are responsible for the wars, violence and abuse committed even in the name of their religion.

Related - then do you agree to the logical extension to say that guns don't kill people, people do?

People are always the problem and war is indeed a problem created by people. I cannot say for sure whether or not religion starts war, but I am certain that religion does not end war.
